Makeup Your Mind!!!!

DISCLAIMER: Before anyone gets all butthurt, I am not criticizing the quality of any of the skins mentioned here. I adore even the ones I have a complaint with. That's why I am posting!

Although I make skins, I do invest in quite a few skins of other brands because A. I admire them B. It gets awfully boring seeing the same faces in my ads.
The biggest no no for me is buying skins that have too much eye makeup. If the skin is more than about L$100 and I cannot cover the eyes with a simple eyeshadow that's pretty much a no go for me no matter how much I admire it. I want my customers to see the makeup as it truly is and I don't like garbled-looking makeup.

One of the designers that inspired me to write this article was Glam Affair. I adore their skins, but I have limited myself to buying their L$70 skins from The Dressing Room because honestly, they had far far far too much eye makeup to be useful to me.

I was going to go grab some demos and show examples, instead I found some of their newest skins. YOKO IS HAPPY!

I have always vowed that if they ever made a skin with minimal eye makeup that I would buy it. I did and I am extremely pleased!

Castalia has almost no eye makeup and would you believe it?  The darkest tone is beautiful and has no orange undertones. I love having a bunch of ethnicities to choose from when I make my ads, so Castalia is like striking gold!

Here she is with no makeup and with my Shadow Rock eyeshadow and Big Mama lips.

Isn't she pretty?!

I guess I will alternate happiness with mild disappointment.

Elle by Belleza has been a go-to skin for me for a very long time. They can really be "dressed up". I was so excited about the release of Erika. It's a beautiful skin, but I won't be purchasing one.
I got the much appreciated group gift and went to their store to purchase a "clean eye" version. I figured that the gigantic eyelashes on the group gifts were to keep people from getting too creative with the makeup layers or make them want others.
 WRONG!!!

Every single Erika skin has eyelashes halfway to the eyebrows as seen above. I showed this skin with one of my Bewitching eye makeups. This shadow is pretty big and as you can see, the lashes still stick out of it oddly. I suppose some stuff could be used with it, but any tattoo layer is going to look funky with it. If this is an attempt at making makeups "proprietary" then it works. I am not wearing this. It's a shame. I liked the skin otherwise.

     O.K. Time for more happy!

I now own um... 8 Dutch Touch skins. Recently they began offering skin "starter packs" which include tons of brow, hairbase, cleavage and freckle options. Even their older skins have a good clean natural version, but the starter packs? Iki Ikarus is a genius! They offer lovely tattoo layers fitted perfectly for their skins without screwing the skins up in a way that other brands of makeup won't work with them. Also, their freckle and beauty mark options are delicious!

Here are the Dutch Touch skins I own, both old and new!

Left to Right: Josje (Cocoa) Yri (Caramel) Eefje (Porcelain) Fay (Olive) Megan (Cream) Mensje (Caramel)
I actually own Fay in the group-discounted Honey tone as well. Megan in Cream is another group discounted skin. I most definitely recommend the Dutch Touch group if you like their skins a lot. After the initial $250 fee, they are fairly regularly releasing new group discounted skins for just L$400. They are as nice as the others, but in an exclusive tone.

I got the group tag "I Touch Dutch" I think at this point mine should say "I stalk and rampantly molest Dutch".
I think DT has entered the future by offering Mensje with a "no brow" version. I can't wait to figure out how to make stick on brows!

Allright time to complain again...

I have loved LAQ skins since way back in the day when they were called RAC. I do own a fair few of their skins, but every time I leave with one I go with a bad taste in my mouth. My purchases are becoming fewer and further between. Not because of quality. I am never disappointed with a Laq skin. But i HATE not having the option to buy just 1 skin. I will never use 9 of the 10. I am getting a bad value at nearly L$2000.

Even if i DID want that many makeups, there are so many in the pack that are hardly different. See below.

I make makeup, I know how hard it is. REALLY some of these are just smudges and lip tints. Not worth it.
What I would like to see is a single skin pack with some big ol boobies (cleavage, preferably attached so that I don't accidently remove it.) maybe a few eyebrow colors and a few hairbases. If I wanted the "total package" with a new hair base color, good boobies and the skin , right now I would be out about $2700.
No matter how beautiful the skins are. That's insane!!! I'm sure some people pay it, but WHY? Couldn't LAQ provide us with value? I mean, I am not saying that they should be cheap! These are fine, beautiful skins. Just for L$2000 please give me something I can use!
Of course creators have the absolute right to charge whatever they want. I have the absolute right to wish and be a little peeved too =).

There are many brands we Glamorize Girls use to display makeup. Here are some with SLURLs.
LAQ
Chaisuki
Tuli
League
Dutch Touch
Curio - Beware of huge lips!
Nomine

All of these skin brands have a nude skin. Prices vary, but Nomine is the least expensive of this list.

THE END
